MY PREFERRED SPECIALIZATION AND ITS IMPACT ON THE ONLINE SPACE

As a child, I used to get criticized a lot by people around me for asking too many questions. I felt condemned and stopped seeking answers from people but was never content in not knowing. In school, I discovered books and became a voracious reader and ardent researcher. For the first time, I had access to so much information with no one questioning my curious mind. Google came along and voila I had found a best friend.

Can any writing be done without research? I guess not. If not from reading physical books, online browsing and reading, interviewing a source, or brooding over a subject of interest, researching is a continuous part of the writing process. Researching is not just a specialization in writing, it is its synonym, a critical skill in the writer’s toolbox.

Ghost Writing

My pet peeve is researching but my preferred specialization is ghostwriting. A ghostwriter writes on behalf of another person who eventually takes credit for the writing. It is written based on the client’s interests, needs, directions, and expectations. It is wearing another person’s shoe and ensuring it fits perfectly. It is acting as a proxy, the main character in someone else’s story.

Ghostwriting requires one to conduct a lot of research, be unemotionally engaged in a person or topic of interest, and ability to dig deep into various subject matters.

There are instances where a well-known writer or personality writer uses a ghostwriter's name to hide their identity, especially where the information being shared is of a sensitive nature and would risk a person’s life as well as that of their family.

Ghostwriting is the best way to send coded messages to a targeted group without really identifying the source. In a case where the writer has to hide themselves one publishes and co-authors with a ghostwriter and credits them instead of themselves.
